20210209 Insect

Saw this insect on one of our brinjal flowers this morning.  I love how it has so much detail.  Apparently it is some sort of bug although I can’t find out which kind – could be stink bug, leaf bug etc.

We were cutting diseased leaves off these brinjal plants this morning but I don’t think this insect was the cause of the disease.  It looked more like some sort of fungus.

20210208 Lettuce colours

We have some wonderfully coloured lettuce coming at the moment as this picture shows.  I think it looks as good as a bouquet of flowers.

20210207 Our kitchen picture

These two volunteers decided they wanted to put a picture on the kitchen and started today.  They seemed to think they will get it finished but I think they are being very optimistic as it is a picture with a lot of detail.

20210206 Sunset pictured at last!

Rather pleased that at last I have managed to get a reasonable sunset picture.

In fact I think the camera has augmented the picture because I don’t remember the colours being quite so dramatic and intense.

20210205 New life

I took these pictures of brand new pongamia leaves this morning along with similar leaves coming on the neem trees.  Not sure whether it’s these that are making me sneeze every time I go outside or not.  Neem blossom makes me sneeze so I wouldn’t be surprised if new leaves did it as well.

Its wonderful to see this new life and it does give me new hope.

20210204 having a ball in a flower

I am amazed by this picture of lemon blossom that I took this morning.  Mainly because I didn’t see all the insect activity going on until I saw the picture.

All the different insects seem to me to be having a really good time in and  around the flowers!

20210203 Insect

I love this picture of an insect which was sitting just inside the store room.  Maybe the cooler weather made him keep still for long enough to take this picture.

I thought at first it might be some kind of stag beetle, but its known as a mango tree borer.

20210202 Sunrise

The sunrise this time of year can be very beautiful.  I heard someone yesterday call the hour after sunrise ‘the golden hour’.  And this time of year this is what it is.

20210201 Watching the radish grow

Since I thinned the radish I am keeping a very close eye on how they are growing.  I am thrilled they seem to be growing well – much better than if I hadn’t thinned them.

20210131 New tree

I was walking around the nature garden and came across this recently planted tree.  I loved the shiny green leaves and the deep almost purple colour of the new leaves.

20210130 Worth the effort

These are radishes which I painstakingly thinned last week.  Looking at them today I saw how well they are growing and thought it was worth the effort.

I hope they produce more growing further apart.

20210129 The colours of lettuce

I was walking around the garden today and was very struck by the beautiful colours of the lettuces.  Some have a variety of colours like this one and others are just one colour.  When there are lots of colours on a bed it looks wonderful although I wasn’t able to do it justice in a photograph.  I think I need to wait until the lettuces grow and spread more.

20210128 Birthday flowers

Have had a lovely birthday and these are the flowers that were put around my cake.  First time I have had a cake for years and years.  Later two volunteers cooked me a lovely supper of chapatis and vegetables.

Very lovely quiet day.

20210127 Fort BG

This is a picture of where Magzhiran had been playing forts with his cousin.  I thought it was rather good especially when they started filling up the holes with water.

20210126 A not very dramatic sunset

Once again I went out to try and catch the sunset and once again I was not very successful.

There often seems to be misty cloud around at that timewhich I presume is why the sunsets are not very colourful right now.
