A blog to keep me in touch with the visual side of myself. Every day I post something about my life in Buddha Garden, a farm in Auroville, South India
When we get rain after a dry spell it brings on
a lot of new flowers like this one which was near one of the compost heaps. I love the delicate colours.
After a flurry of planting, weeding, cutting
glyricidea and using it for mulching Le Jardin looked like this after work this
morning. All ready to go once we get a
bit more rain.
After what seems like a long time suddenly the
farm feels as if it is up and running again.
I think its partly to do with a small drop in temperature, some breeze
and a feeling that there might be some rain soon.
It felt very hot today and this morning we gave
all the very young seedlings extra water.
Normally I don’t like doing that but the seedlings are finding it
difficult to survive without it.
This morning I tied up these snake gourd and
was rather liked the string patterns
that ended up decorating the bed. These
snake gourd have taken a lot of effort to get going but finally they seem to be
growing.
I took this picture this morning to show how our
plants are suffering in the heat. Then this
afternoon we had a lovely rain that brought the temperature tumbling down and
made all the plants perk up.
It will be lovely weeding weather tomorrow!
I continue to be surprised by just how much we
are harvesting during this hot time, especially papaya. It’s the same for everyone else of course although
people seem to like our fruit, maybe because they are quite small. For the time of year we have quite a variety
of things.
I have this huge piece of fossilized earth as a
feature near my house. I love how it
looks in the sun when its possible to see all the different earth
patterns. I also like how in the picture
the shadow rests on it.
It seems hardly any time at all since I saw
these flowers last year. So much has
changed and yet hasn’t changed with aspects of the pandemic seemingly so
ingrained with ordinary life. And now we
are in lockdown again as we were last year.
Yet the cycles of nature continue and I am so
glad that I am able to work with them.
For me it’s a real gift.
Dear Mahindran gave this papaya to me after it
had been offered to Ganesha during the Friday puja. Hopefully it will give me some special energy
which I really feel I need at this time.
Rajan told me that he had recently started
giving this lemon tree water and that is why it is producing so many lemons.
We argue a lot about how much water we use, but
it looks like it was put to good use in this case.
This is the ‘hug me’ tree in the Garden of
Unseen Helpers. I love how the new
growth is coming and how the sun is shining on it.
Could this be happening to me? Something new growing within me? I can hope!
Some of our
snake gourd plants in the Seed garden have a lot of these beautiful flowers on
them. I love how delicate they are
although they are very small.
Its been so hot these last weeks that all the ‘ordinary’
vegetables have been struggling quite a bit.
But we must have put these beans in at just the
right time because now they are starting to produce. This time of year we really do have to be
grateful for what we have.
Maybe she has used a filter or my pink clothes
changed how the colours appear.
